Acrobat Reader 8 sucks less!
April 28th, 2007
On the web, the PDF format is pretty much the de-facto standard for distributing printable media. For years, Adobe’s Acrobat Reader has been getting fatter, slower, and buggier with each new release. So bad in fact, that a lot of people switched to Foxit Reader, which is fast and lean but kind of feels like a Windows 3.1 app :P
This morning I was trying to print with Foxit Reader, and the thing spewed out a random number of blank pages instead of a 2-page musical score. 2 minutes later I had downloaded and installed Adobe Reader 8.0 and did a double-take. The thing loads faster than a file folder! I’m dead serious, this bitch goes from desktop to document in 1/8th of a second!
